Boon's figurative paintings pulse with electric colours, where beneath the surface, intimate moments unfold, revealing subtle emotional undercurrents. Often featuring solitary figures or couples in love, Boon’s oeuvre explores themes of solitude, introspection, affection, and human connections in the post-internet milieu.
His style invokes the art historical lineage of European impressionist and modernist painters, yet a closer inspection reveals a unique sensibility rooted in Eastern arts. This distinctive fusion finds its origins in Boon's ten years as a protege in traditional Chinese calligraphy and ink-painting before embracing life as an emigre in the West.
